Solution 1: via "Google Contacts"
Create a new sync.blue® connection to synchronize any contact source with the destination “Google Contacts” (a personal Google account). As a rule, the Google account is already linked to the Android smartphone and thus automatically receives the contacts synchronized via sync.blue® on the device.
If you want many employees to have the same contacts synchronized with their Google account, set up a single connection and then “share” it with your colleagues.
More about this here.
Solution 2: sync.blue® app for Android
The sync.blue® app for Android synchronizes your local Android device contacts with your sync.blue® CardDAV account. This means that you only need a single connection in the sync.blue® dashboard, which synchronizes your preferred contact source (e.g. the Microsoft GAL) to the sync.blue® CardDAV server. You then set up the Android app for as many employees as you want, which then synchronizes with this single CardDAV account.
App installation
The app can be installed in various ways (manually, via Managed Play Store approval and via Android Enterprise MDM such as Microsoft Intune):
Manual installation via Google Play Store
- Search for and install the app sync.blue in the normal Google Play Store.
- When you start it for the first time, make sure to allow access to the local device contacts:
- Open the settings dialog:
- Enter your personal CardDAV access data and save it. From version 2.1.0, the sync.blue® host must also be set, depending on the application used, this is directory (CardDAV by sync.blue®) or carddav (CardDAV by sync.blue® V2)
- Go back to the main screen via "<" at the top left. The contacts that are on the CardDAV account are now displayed as a list:
- Now click on the "Sync" symbol to start synchronizing these CardDAV contacts with the local device contacts:
- Now open the normal Android "Contacts" app:
- Now switch to the new local address book provided by the sync.blue® app:
- Check whether all contacts from the remote sync.blue® CardDAV account are now on the local Android device:
Manual installation via Google Managed Play Store
Users can find the app themselves in the Managed Play Store and use the "Approval" button to request installation from the MDM administrator:
As an MDM administrator, you can then approve the app accordingly:
Then confirm the settings:
Users can then find the approved app in the Managed Play Store and install it themselves:
Automatic installation and configuration via MDM (e.g. Microsoft Intune)
