What is a source contact?

A source contact is a single contact stored in an original data source, such as a CRM, CSV file, or Microsoft Global Address List (GAL).

It serves as a starting point for synchronization and can be synchronized with multiple targets. Importantly, a source contact always remains the same, no matter how often it is synchronized or shared with other users.
