When creating a connection, you can optionally select a deletion strategy in the Advanced Settings:
Deletion strategy | Explanation | Use examples |
1 (never delete contacts) | The default setting for all newly created connections. Contacts are not deleted in the target under any circumstances (even if they were deleted in the source).
2 (⚠ delete all contacts in the sync target beforehand) | All contacts are removed individually in the target before a sync process, regardless of whether they were originally synchronized by sync.blue® or created manually in the target.
3 (only remove deleted source contacts in the sync target) | In the sync target, only those contacts are removed that have previously been synchronized at least once from the source to the target using the connection and have subsequently been manually removed from the source. A full sync resets this, i.e. contacts are considered to have been synchronized from the connection from the time of the full sync. |
|
4 (⚠ remove contacts in the target that do not exist in the source) | In the sync target, the contacts that are not present in the sync source are removed. Should only be used if the sync target was previously empty or only contains contacts from the sync source. |
These strategies are already available today for these sync targets:
- CardDAV (hosted by sync.blue®)
- Microsoft 365
