Identical contact detection compares existing contacts with new ones, thus avoiding duplicates.
Available strategies
When creating a connection, an optional strategy for detecting identical contacts can be selected in the Advanced Settings:
Strategy for identifying identical contacts | Explanation |
1 (Contacts are considered identical if the full name or email matches) | The default setting for all newly created connections. Contacts are recognized as identical if the full name or the email match. It is sufficient if one of the criteria matches. |
2 (Contacts are considered identical if the full name and the email match) | Contacts are recognized as identical if the full name and the email match. Both criteria must match for contacts to be recognized as identical. |
Applicable scenarios
This feature is applied in the following scenarios:

Identical contacts in different sources are recognized and synchronized to the target as a single contact | ✅ |
Identical contacts in the same source are recognized and synchronized to the target as a single contact | ❌ (in planning, but duplicate detection based on completely identical contact fields is currently active) |
