To ensure that the phone app in the private Android profile displays the caller's name (instead of just the phone number) when a call comes in (if the contacts of a BYOD smartphone are located in the phonebook of a work profile), the following setting is required in MDM, using Microsoft Intune as an example:
- Create a new policy (Microsoft Intune Admin Center - Manage devices - Configuration - Create) and select the platform (Android Enterprise) and the profile type Templates):
2. Scroll down a bit and then select the template Device Restrictions and Work Profile "Personal Property":
3. Ensure that the parameter for "Show business contact caller ID in personal profile" is set to "Not configured":
4. Complete the creation of this policy as usual in Intune and assign it to the desired users or devices.
Expected Result
After the policy has been synchronized to the relevant users or devices, the caller's name will be resolved based on the company phonebook when the phone rings. This can be synchronized beforehand with the company's employee contacts (e.g., from the Global Address List in Microsoft 365) using sync.blue®
