Employee contacts, which are for example already maintained in the Microsoft Global Address List (GAL), can be automatically provided as a CardDAV address book for Apple iPhones or macOS devices via sync.blue®.
Instead of manually entering the CardDAV credentials generated by sync.blue® on each individual device, they can be distributed fully automatically. This eliminates individual setup, and all devices receive the required contact information without user interaction.
On the iPhones, the contacts are then available system-wide. This enables, among other things, automatic caller identification, as locally synchronized contacts are used for name resolution. Employees can also directly access all colleague contacts while on the go, as these are already stored in the iOS or macOS address book.
Setup
It is assumed that the Mobile Device Management system "Jamf" has already been basically set up and distributes other configurations to devices.
- Log in to your Jamf cloud tenant.
- Create a new configuration profile for contacts (Devices → Configuration Profiles → New Profile → Contacts).
- Enter the following parameters for distribution to the devices (replace XMSA4FD7UXXXXX with your own sync.blue® MOBILE Storage API key):
- Assign the configuration profile to the desired devices or device groups to ensure it is automatically installed on all targeted devices.
These settings should be adopted by the devices within a few minutes. Check whether the contacts are displayed on the iPhones, for example under Phone - Contacts - Lists - Description of the CardDAV account:
