Caller ID in Teams can be configured in several ways, as described in this overview. However, using the sync.blue® ADDRESS BOOK is particularly easy and convenient, as it allows you to import contacts from almost any source and use them for caller identification. It also enables quick searching for important contacts directly within Teams and allows you to call them with a single click.
Setup (as Teams Admin)
- In the Microsoft 365 Teams Admin Center, create a new call policy (VoIP - Call policies) or edit an existing policy that suits your company's needs:
- Enable the option "Open apps in the browser for incoming PSTN calls":
- Define the "URL to open apps in the browser for incoming PSTN calls":
The URL scheme to enter is:
https://addressbook.sync.blue/contact/remote/lookup/?uid=<sync.blue® ADDRESS BOOK UID>&token=<sync.blue® ADDRESS BOOK TOKEN>&phonenumber={phone}
ℹ️ For this, a previously created sync.blue® ADDRESS BOOK is required, i.e. a sync connection in the sync.blue® Dashboard, which synchronizes contacts from any compatible source to the sync destination "sync.blue® ADDRESS BOOK".
ℹ️ Here you will find instructions on how to obtain the UID and token for your previously created sync.blue® ADDRESS BOOK.
- Save the call policy.
- Then assign the call policy to individual users or groups as usual:
ℹ️ Note that, according to Microsoft, implementing the new settings can take some time before they actually take effect for the user.
Setup (as a Teams user)
After the Teams administrator has completed the above setup, the selected Teams users must also individually activate the following setting in Teams:
Test
After the setup is complete (and after a suitable waiting period for Microsoft to implement the call policies), when an incoming call is answered (not when the phone is ringing!), a new browser window or tab should open with the following content:
